Viva la France, Eugenia Will Share Information About Her Homeland
Eugenia will be our program Wednesday as she shares information about her homeland, France.
Eugenie Lacrambe arrived in Texas mid-August 2014 for her year as an Inbound Rotary Youth Exchange Student hosted by The Rotary Club of Humble and attending Kingwood High School as a Junior. She is being sponsored by her home Rotary District 1690 and her hometown’s Rotary Club of Mauleon. The city of Mauléon is a small French city (population of 7500) located in the west of France. Traveling to far off places is not new to Eugenie as she has traveled to London, Spain, morocco, Dubai, Turkey, Tunisia and Greece before coming to the United States for her exchange. She is the youngest of 3 children in her family and her father is a Dentist and her Mother, a Dental Assistant. She has a good sense of family values and is very close to her Grandfather and many cousins. Eugenie says she is honest, sincere, and very tenacious when it is about getting something. Also, she is sociable, enthusiastic, and “kind of an independent girl”.Eugenie Lacrambe arrived in Texas mid-August 2014 for her year as an Inbound Rotary Youth Exchange Student hosted by The Rotary Club of Humble and attending Kingwood High School as a Junior. Eugenie enjoys photography and will often be seen with her camera in hand. She has become fluent in English and really enjoys Texas and all that it has to offer. Currently she is in the French Club at Kingwood High School. Eugenie is enthusiastic and always happy to participate in Rotary activities with adults at Humble Rotary’s weekly meetings as well as District 5890 Youth Exchange get-togethers. When the District’s 15 RYE Inbounds from all over the world get together it is really special as they share their feelings and experiences. Rotaract Clubs (Rotary clubs for young adults) and Rotexes (past Rotary Outbound Exchange Students) help with these gatherings and lend guidance, understanding, and transportation.
She will live with three host families during her year. The Davitt’s, hosted her 1st semester and helped her get accustomed to their busy home. She traveled to west Texas, Austin, Hawaii and Canada thanks to the Davitt’s who by the way are hosting a RYE student for the 5th time. Her second host family is the Williamson’s and she is now adapting again to another home life. Her 3rd host family will be the Bell’s and again she will need to adapt. So it is said that the three rules of youth exchange are Adapt, Adapt, and Adapt.
