Our Ambassadrial Scholar initiates $400,000 M.Sc. program in Nepal
Brian Davis is completing his Masters Program in Nepal. Brian, in his capacity as a member of Engneers Without Borders, along with Sara Beck headed up the water project our club lead in San Slavador a few years ago.
Things are winding down here in Nepal. I have less than 30 days left, as
I have already purchased a plane ticket to the USA for July 7th. In the
closing month, I have good news concerning the scholarship and the extra time I
have spent here:
About six months ago, members of the faculty and I wrote a proposal to start a
new M.Sc. program and research group at the university: Energy Systems Planning
and Analysis. A few days ago, an Austrian educational development program
accepted our proposal. The resulting funding is nearly $400,000 and it
will be used for various activities that involve setting up and conducting the
M.Sc. courses, establishing a new research group of faculty members, and
partnering with a university in Austria. This is a big step forward for
both the university and Nepal, as it will provide trained human resources and
new options in national energy planning.
Regards,
Brian
