Afghanistan School Project, Article In District Newsletter
Dear Partners in our
Afghanistan school project;
The project is complete.
What started as a $3,000 District Grant by the Rotary Club of Humble
Intercontinental grew into a $10,450 plus project thanks to cash contributions
from eight more clubs - Houston, Houston Heights, West U, North Shore,
Willowbrook, Baytown, Bear Creek Copperfield and Brazosport.
The Power Point presentation that I received today from Nicole Heydari
is available and is an excellent summary of the accomplishments.
Nicole will be completing her term with the International Security
Assistance Forces of NATO in Kabul in early December to resume her Master’s
Degree program in Vienna which is partially funded by the Rotary Clubs of Houston
and Humble Intercontinental.
I draw your attention to the plaque in the first page of the Power Point
which reads “these classrooms were built in October 2012 for the children of
Cheheltan Middle School in support of education in Afghanistan by the following
Texas Rotary Clubs (United States of America)”. The plaque has been placed on
the exterior wall of one of the classrooms.
Nicole did an outstanding job of identifying this need and overseeing
the project to completion. Let’s also thank Felipe La Rotta of the Humble club
who collected and shipped to Nicole six boxes of school supplies.
Thank you all nine clubs for your support.
You might want to email Nicole and congratulate her and thank her
for this wonderful project.
