Dr. Bob Cassidy was celebrated for his 50 years of being a Rotarian on Thursday evening, Feb. 1st! Rotary Club of Lake Houston Area members and family gathered at The Creativity Shell in Kingwood to share a meal and stories about “Dr. Bob” (as he is affectionately known). Several members shared favorite stories about Dr. Bob (the story about the duck and perfect attendance was particularly funny).

Everyone was offered his favorite foods for dinner including BBQ brisket, Chick-fil-A and cookies. Sides added were Sausage, Baked Beans, Gouda Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Ice Tea and all of the fixings.

Large plain chocolate chip cookies were decorated by the dinner guests with assorted icings and given to Dr. Bob or eaten by the cookie “artists”. (Dr. Bob revealed that Laurie Polomsky’s cookie was decorated the best - no surprise there!)

Colorful paper, markers and a comment bag were provided on a side table for personal messages to Dr. Bob.

After dinner, club members took the microphone to share favorite stories about his “career” as a Rotarian. (Dr. Bob is a retired Kingwood dentist.)

Several members shared favorite stories about Dr. Bob (the story about the duck and perfect attendance was particularly funny) and he also talked a little about how he came to Kingwood after graduating from dental school in Illinois and setting up an office here. He also shared the value of giving back to the community through Rotary.

Before MC Valerie Copley presented Dr. Bob with a plaque and gift bag, his wife, Karen, was recognized for her participation in club activities and presented with a gift as well.

Special thanks to Valerie and Laurie in organizing this special evening social for Dr. Bob and their fellow Lake Houston Rotarians.

Thank you, Dr. Bob, for your long and continuing service to the Lake Houston community and Rotary.
